03.25.24 -- Thought for the Week – Nurture your inner malcontent!

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

Malcontents, I believe, have been unfairly given a negative label, although many have earned it. Yes, I know, you’re probably thinking of that person at work who is always complaining, there’s one in every office. If that person isn’t quickly coming to mind, well, it just might be you.

We all have a bit of malcontent in us, not a bad thing, and tapping into that inner self can be valuable. Some of the greatest leaders in the world could be considered malcontents, those who were dissatisfied with the status quo and did something about it: Martin Luther King, the rebellious founders of the United States, Mahatma Gandhi, and you can probably think of many more.

The difference between the passive complainers and the great leaders is that the latter nurtured their inner malcontent to drive positive change.

Embracing one’s inner malcontent can help us better understand the problems we face, and we can use that energy to create solutions, not only for ourselves, but for our businesses, families, friends, and even for larger transformative causes.

So, this week I encourage you to get in touch with your inner malcontent, nurture that spirit, and let it become the motivation for making positive change.

I hope you have a great week-Perry
