The good news first. If you live in the US, this is a three-day work week. The bad news is that this is a three-day work week that culminates with Thanksgiving when we will eat so much that we’ll feel sick.

But let’s look at getting through these next three days?

If you’re like most of the working world, you try to squeeze five days of work into three. Then drag yourself to a big family dinner on Thursday tired and stressed. And then you’re in no mood to hear about your brother-in-law’s deep-sea fishing vacation to El Salvador. Yes, that’s apparently a thing!

To prepare yourself for a better holiday try this.

Focus on the biggest opportunity based on the outcomes you can achieve!

If you’re in sales and trying to close out business for the year, consider your biggest opportunities for this short week. Perhaps you have an account that has been sitting on a contract for a while. Circle back around to them, shake out that objection, and overcome it like a champion. Or maybe it’s that account who accepted a pile of value, but you just need to reconnect.

If you’re a marketer, maybe sending out that eblast announcing a new product set isn’t the best thing to do on Wednesday. Or here’s an idea. Send it to a segmented Canadian audience, they already celebrated Thanksgiving.

So, start the week with some thoughtful analysis and right-size your work for the biggest opportunities.
